Frequently asked questions

How soon can I drive after breast (implant/reduction/lift) surgery?

If you have an automatic car you should not drive it for at least 7-10 days.
If you drive a manual car then you should wait 2 weeks before driving.

When can I go back to work after breast (implant/reduction/lift) surgery?

You can return to work 7-10 days following surgery if your job does not involve manual/lifting work. If the work you do is more physically challenging you should take at least 2 weeks off following surgery. If you need more clarification contact the practice.

When can I start exercising again after breast (implant/reduction/lift) surgery?

You should wait at least 1 week before you start lower body exercise and 5-6 weeks before weight lifting or aerobics. Remember if it hurts/causes pain then you should refrain from doing it!

How soon can I fly in New Zealand and internationally after after breast (implant/reduction/lift) surgery?

You should wait 2 weeks before flying, to reduce the risk of flight associated blood clotting problems.

Do I have to pay for appointments after my surgery?

No, cosmetic post operative consultations are factored into the procedure cost.

What medications or tablets should I stop taking before surgery?

This is a guideline for some commonly used medications that you will need to avoid for two weeks prior to your surgery, unless approved by Mr Julian Lofts.

 Anti-Pyretic, Analgesic, Anti-Platelet Preparations

 Asprin (Aspec, Aspro-regular, clear and extra strength, Alka-Seltzer, Cardia, Cardiprin, Disprin – original, max and chewable, Ecotrin and Pirophen)

 Nonsteroidal Anti-Inflammatories Preparations

 Diclofenac (Apo-Diclo, Cataflam, Diclax and Voltaren)
 Ibuprofen (Act 3, Brufen, Nurofen, Nurofen Plus and Panafen)
 Mefenamic Acid (Ponstan)
 Naproxen (Naprogesic and Naprosyn)
 Tenoxicam (Tilcotil)

 Herbal Supplements and Remedies

 Discontinue all herbal supplements, remedies (including gym supplements) unless approved by Mr Julian Lofts.
 Please also avoid eating ginger, garlic and avocado for 10 days prior to surgery.

 Alcohol

 Please avoid for two days prior to your surgery.

 You can take Paracetamol (Panadol), Paracetamol and Codeine (Panadeine, Codalgin), Vitamin C and Rescue Remedy up to your surgery date, without causing any prolonged bleeding your surgical procedure.

 You can take Arnica post surgery only.

 PLEASE NOTE: ALL OTHER PRESCRIPTION MEDICINE YOU ARE CURRENTLY TAKING MUST BE CONTINUED UNLESS ADVISED OTHERWISE BY MR LOFTS.

Where will my surgery be carried out?

95% of Mr Lofts surgical procedures are carried out at St Marks Road Surgical Centre, 3 St Marks Road, Remuera, Auckland.

How long do I have to wear the surgical bra after breast implant/reduction/lift) surgery?

The ideal length of time to wear the surgical bra is 6 weeks following surgery.
